Sopore, Jun 22 (KNO): Residents of Krankshivan colony in Sopore undertook repairs of a dilapidated stretch of an internal road on their own.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), people said that they repaired the road because the dilapidated stretch was prone to accidents and was causing inconvenience to them.
"The department concerned did nothing except for giving false assurances. The stretch at Alamdar locality of Sopore's ward 1 was in shambles,” said Wani Naim Ahmed, a resident.
The road was dotted with large potholes and was not repaired for the last several years, said a local Imtiyaz Ahmed.
Residents said that they apprised Roads and Buildings (R&B) department a number of times to get their grievances address to no avail.
They urged the lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to look into this matter at the earliest so that people would not have to suffer more.
DDC member, Irfan Hafeez Lone said they have taken up the issue with the concerned department. "Once Jal Shakti department will shift utility pipes, macadamization process will start. It is expected to start within seven days,” he said.
